Back-to-School Help Is Still Available Across Charlotte
By Groundwater Solutions
The school year has started, but the help hasn't stopped. Several organizations across Mecklenburg County are still running free back-to-school events this month, and most don't require registration or proof of income.
What's still happening
Remedy Ready Back to School Bash — Sunday, August 16, 11:00 AM at Robert L. Smith Park. Free school supplies and family activities. Details on AllEvents
Back to School Bash at David Waymer Recreation Center — Saturday, August 15, 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. 14008 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville. Carnival-themed with games, prizes, food, and family activities. Pre-registration required. Charlotte On The Cheap
Mecklenburg County Recreation Centers are running back-to-school bashes throughout August at multiple locations. Several partner with Novant Health to offer free vaccines for children from birth to age 18 who are uninsured, on Medicaid, or Medicaid-eligible.
Why it matters
Backpacks and notebooks are the visible part. The bigger value at these events is the table in the corner — the one with housing information, workforce program flyers, and someone who can tell you which clinic takes walk-ins. Bring your questions.
